The Cuban flag was hoisted over the building of the Cuban embassy in Washington on Monday at 4:30 p.m. CEST.
It was the first time since 1961, when the two countries broke off diplomatic relations; the ceremony was viewed by the Cuban Foreign Minister Rodriguez. The ceremony in Washington was attended by more than 500 people among whom were officials from the White House, US lawmakers, and a large delegation from Cuba. The embassy is located in the same building which served as the embassy before.
